I am sure everyone has heard the saying “You are what you eat”, or more correctly, what you absorb, actually. When one understands how the body works from an anatomy and physiology level, you really get this. When you feed yourself well, your body is well and you feel amazing – you have more energy, your mood is upbeat and your body is in balance.
If you are like most people in North American, you eat a SAD diet, or Standard (north) American Diet. The name says it all, because it really is sad. Too much sugar, salt and processed foods and not enough live, natural and good quality whole foods. The result: you might feel cranky or depressed, worn out or just plain lousy!

My approach to holistic nutrition is functional in nature. Functional Nutrition looks at the foundational way that food affects your body on a cellular level. Food is more than just calories; in fact, there are millions of molecules of data in every bite of food you ingest. These molecules enter your body and effect how your cells behave, and most importantly, how you feel!
